You may have noticed pigmentation on various parts of your body. If you’re clueless as to why these seem to appear for no good reason let us clue you in. Pigmentation happens because of excessive exposure to UV rays, liver diseases, pregnancy, skin diseases, age related changes, hormonal imbalances as well as gastro-intestinal imbalance. While you can’t do much about preventing pigmentation from happening we do have a few home remedies lined up which will help clear up spots like they never even existed.
But before we delve into that let’s take a look at what we can do to avoid spots as much as possible.
Never step out in the sun without sunscreen.
Keep yourself hydrated and skin moisturized.
Eat more fresh, green vegetables and fresh fruits. These are a great source of vitamins and are nutrient packed.
Smoking may be one of the reasons behind pigmentation.
Ditch fatty foods and junk food.
If you lead a healthy lifestyle and still have pigmentation, consult with a doctor. There may be a more complicated reason behind it like liver disease, hormonal imbalance or gastro-intestinal tract disorders.
Treating pigmentation at home:
Before beginning a home-based treatment if you feel that your pigmentation spots are inflammatory or itchy then visit the doctor. This may not be just spots but an allergic reaction in which case it is better to have a professional take a look at it. If you have normal pigmented and discolored spots you can easily use the following remedies to treat them at home.
Before you apply any of these, be sure to do a patch test. Apply the product to the softer skin on your arm and wait for ten minutes. If you don’t feel itching or burning wipe it off and apply the product on your face.
Before you start the following treatments, be sure to wash your face and scrub it lightly but thoroughly. Grab a clean towel and wipe your face in dabbing motions.
Lemon does wonders for clearing and brightening the skin. Squeeze one lemon into a bowl and mix it with some honey or sour cream. Apply evenly to face and let it stay on for 15 minutes. Wash with luke warm water and pat dry. Do this twice a week.
Soda is another great product which helps clear the skin. However, make sure you are not allergic to soda as a lot of people tend to be. You can mix 1 tsp of soda with lemon juice of a lemon and apply it to face. It also works great when mixed with some water and applied directly to the spots.
3. Aloe Vera
The soothing, healing, brightening, rejuvenating and moisturizing powers of aloe vera are not a secret. Peel off the top layer of aloe vera leaf and scoop out the gel. Apply this directly on the face or mix it with a little honey. You can do this every second day without worrying about over-doing it.
