We all know that we should avoid salt in our diet but what we don’t know is that salt can also be used in our beauty routines. With salt, we can improve our hair, nails and skin health.
A lot of people add salt in their shampoo for strong and shiny hair. It helps loosen and remove existing flakes while stimulating circulation for our scalp. Salt also absorbs excess oil and moisture to prevent fungal growth and inhibit the root of dandruff. (1)
There are varieties of salt which you can use. Some of them are:
- Dead Sea mineral salt – It is derived from the Dead Sea and people use it for reducing skin inflammations, roughness and improve skin barrier functions.
- Himalayan salt – It is sourced from salt deposits in Pakistan.
- Sodium chloride – People use it for cleaning wounds, in saline eye drops, and in IV drips.
- Epson salt – you can add it to your bath for relaxing soak. (2)

Enhances Skin Hydration
Salt water will help you solve your problem with dry skin. It is an excellent way to hydrate it and improve its health.
You can use dead salt because it is rich in zinc and sulfur for treating the acne on your body. (3)
When your legs feel tired and your feet hurt, try soaking them in salt water and your whole body will be relaxed. (4)
Combine one part salt and 2 parts baking soda and use it to brush your teeth.
Mix ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon baking soda in a glass of water and rinse your mouth with it.
Mix 1 tablespoon Baking Soda with 2 tablespoons Salt. Scrub it to your body. (5)
